In Manny’ Defense

Since his Blow By Blow days, this writer was already cheering for Manny Pacquiao and expected that someday there will come a time that this tiny and skinny but fiery pugilist will somehow enjoy the fruits of his labor, hard earned though. We are witnesses on his rise to the top. We saw how he demolished many of the legends and future hall of famers like Barrera, Morales, Dela Hoya. I refused to write for a long time regarding the ‘Weathers’ accusation on him of doping maybe because many writers, international and local were already covering the matter and perhaps it’s getting boring. Although most of the boxing fans here and abroad are rooting and believing in Manny, we feel obliged to defend him not just because we used to make t-shirts inspired by him but also as fellow Filipino. For the record, Manny never refused to do blood testing per se but only with regards as to when such testing will be conducted. The Mighty Duck wants it random. Who is he, God? From Day One, Roach stressed that coming into the negotiations with the fight, they would never allow to be pushed and bullied around. It is not Manny who needs this fight more, it is the Mighty Duck. He let approximately $40 million slips his hands in exchange for his unblemished record. What a get away. He just don’t want to fight someone who has a career 38 knockouts. Too risky for him. His handler Oca once said that Pac’s punches did not hurt him. But he had the nerve to quit on his stool. Now he is wondering why Pac’s punches were heavy as Sugar’s. Contradiction at it’s worsts baby! But I honestly believe that the fight’s death has more effect to Mighty Duck in the long run. Manny is already a billionaire here. A respected countryman. A hero. But the Mighty Duck? He will be forever remembered as the greatest ducker of all time. Here are some of the comments posted by different people in different articles I enjoyed most:

1. Let’s just hope that PBF is more scared of the Taxman than the Pacman.

2. Pac’s Ko’s 38. Floydies total wins is 40. Nuff said.

3. A coward dies a thousand deaths.

4. PBF, Pac will fight you even if you take steroids, shabu, marijuana and rugby!

5. Mayweather vs. Hussain Bolt

Designs

The Nike MP Team Pacquiao eagle shirts come in two colors - black and red- and are printed on the front with a gold outline of a fierce-looking Philippine Eagle.

On the red version of this shirt variety, the eagle is embossed over a line of feathers in the background.

The shirts have “Nike Pacquiao identity crest” on the front which bear the letters “MP” (the boxer’s initials) crowned with three rays of a small sun - similar to the sun found on the Philippine flag. Underneath is the Nike swoosh.

The back part of the t-shirt is printed with “Team Pacquiao” and a Nike swoosh in gold script, along with another Nike Pacquiao identity crest near the nape.

The black Nike MP Tee, meanwhile, has the Nike swoosh on the front along with Pacquiao’s initials in red and blue. The back part of the shirt bears the statement “Lamang Gawin Ito.”

The exclusive t-shirts also have versions in the United States, where the back parts of the garment bears the tagline “Just Do It” in bold letters and the Pacquiao identity crest below it.
