Sporty Lil Figurine

tiger kobe jackie and leslie

An relatively old figurine set in our home, maybe 7 yrs old now. Featuring little black kiddo athletes. The names: Tiger, Kobe, Jackie and Leslie.

The set has its own share of “injuries” and breakages. In fact, I’ll never throw, give or sell this set away because I invested a lot of cash and time into this. I believe, I already consumed 20 tubes of Mightybond (or Bulldog glue?) just to make the pieces play stand again. :-)

Nike Dream Season

The Nike Dream Season, designed with insights from Kobe, helps share his passion for basketball with players throughout Asia Pacific and gives them the opportunity to live out their dreams on the outdoor court.

The Nike Dream Season, both lightweight and durable, is sleek and aggressive much like Kobe’s style of play.  The upper, constructed of spacer mesh provides the ultimate heat management and has a similar design language to that found in the Nike Zoom Kobe IV with a heel that is scooped low for increased ankle movement

Shaq Proof

Author: alecto  //  Category: Pop News

News has it that the Phoenix Suns and the Cleveland Cavaliers came to an agreement in principle swapping vital pieces involving Shaq, Big Ben and Pavlovic. The motive of the Cavs is simple. Get Shaq and prepare for a return bout against the Magic. And perhaps for Shaq, to have a Finals date against Kobe and the Lakers. Ironically, it was a common knowledge that Kobe badly wanted to get his fourth ring without Shaq. And he got it seven years later, sans Shaq of course. Now, out of desperation for the Cavs to lure Lebron to stay and perhaps to sign an extension, they got what he wanted. To have Shaq on his side to reach the Finals once again. He needs a bigger side kick to face the burly Howard. And there is nothing more intriguing watching the East Finals with Shaq ( who had said thousands of not so nice and encouraging words for the “other” Superman) and Howard battling for positions and possessions down under. And what is next? The Cavs with the Big Cactus going against Kobe, Phil and the Lakers. What a drama, right Mr. Stern? That would certainly the biggest dream match for the league and yes for the hoops disciples come next season’s Finals. But one thing is certain on Kobe’s mind right now, that he and the mighty Lakers are now certified Shaq-proof ball club.

Kobe’s MJ Chase Starts NOW!

Author: alecto  //  Category: Pop News

Forget what NBA legend Jerry West has declared recently that LeBron has surpassed Kobe as a player. We all know that it is not the case. LeBron has still a lot of cereals and Big Macs to consume before he may be regarded as today’s best baller in the NBA or on the planet. Perhaps, Nike’s hottest endorser, that is. Kobe has three rings. LeBron? Well, Howard and the Gang deprived him of another crack in the Finals. And since LeBron will be momentarilly irrelevant after their loss to Orlando, let’s shift the topic to Kobe’s mission, to win an NBA Championship with him at the helm. Many were saying that Kobe has a tremendous chance to chase Michael Jordan’s greatness. Arguably, MJ’s regarded as the best player to ever touched a basketball. Yes, Kobe has three rings as I’ve mentioned earlier. But we know for a fact that he won those three consecutive championships along side Shaq playing in his prime. The Big Fella won Finals MVP in all those victories. In MJ’s case, he was the Finals MVP in all of the Chicago Bulls’ championships( 6x, an NBA record). MJ had no dominant team mate in his career. Yes, he got Pippen. But Pip’s was more of a side kick then. That was not the case for Kobe and Shaq. The latter was then the captain of the ship. MJ had been a regular season MVP five times. Kobe was the league’s MVP before LeBron dethroned him this season. MJ was a two time slamdunk king, while Kobe ruled the contest once. MJ won Rookie of the Year in 1985 while Allen Iverson won the same award in 1996-1997 season, the same season Kobe was drafted. MJ and Kobe both won 3 NBA All-Star Game MVP. MJ pocketed 10 scoring titles( NBA record) while Kobe has two.Kobe recorded an 81 points performance in a game while MJ had 63 points against Bird and the Celtics in a play-off game. We can argue all day who is the better player between them, but the facts are clear as daylight. Kobe is a great player. Today, he has the best and gorgeous moves on offense like MJ had before. Kobe is one of the toughest defender in the game today, similar to what MJ then. If the basis of greatness as what Kobe said should be the number of championship rings,( how about Robert Horry? I think he has 7 rings) then time is running out for him. His chase for MJ starts now. With him as the Lakers’ main man. At 30, he still have the chance, but he needs to start now against Orlando. But whatever happens 5 years from now, Kobe would still be a Hall of Famer. And will be one of the 100 greatest players of all time.Right Shaq?
